Copying and Moving Files with Copy Handler

Friday, June 19, 2009 0
It is quite common to copy files from one directory to another or to external removable storage device. Although it seems to be a very simple task but in case you are looking for a tool with more customization and full control, here is a good software utility, named as Copy Handler that able to help you.

Copy Handler is a freeware and once you have installed and launched it, it will run at background and stay quietly in system tray. To launch the utility, just double click on the system tray icon and this interface will show files copying progress including details information like current and average speed, buffer sizes, priority, progress by size, visual bar, time elapsed/left and etc. During files copying and moving process, you can pause, resume, restart or cancel them at anytime you want. Besides, it allows you to copy multiple files simultaneously by inserting tasks into queue, then process them by order. You can even set to shut down your computer automatically immediate after files copying process is completed. This feature is very useful especially when the files size are huge and you don’t need to just wait for the copying process to finish to shut down your computer manually. On top of this, if your computer is crashed or lost network connectivity when you are in the middle of copying files, Copy Handler is able to resume all unfinished operations when your computer is started or connected back to network.

Copy Handler is absolutely free to download. It works well on Windows XP/Vista/7 and support for both 32 and 64-bits OS. To experience it yourself, just download it at here.

Backup And Restore Your Windows XP and Vista System Drivers

Open source freeware, don’t you just love free software? DriverBackup is a fast and user-friendly free tool for backing up your computer drivers, restore corrupt drivers and more. Based on my own experience the software is useful for those that:

* Bought a secondhand computer or laptop without the installation CDs
* Lost your CD driver or the CD is not readable anymore.
* Too lazy to insert all the CDs one by one, simply restore the driver after formatting the computer.
* Updating to a newer driver, need a backup copy of the older driver in case the newer driver is not compatible.
* Mass installation of drivers on computers in a library, computer lab or cybercafe. One click installs all the required drivers.

The possibility is unlimited. I guess this tool is useful for those that don’t have the original CD. Backing up your system drivers in Windows is only a click away, same goes with restoring it. If DriverBackup is not to your liking, do try the following alternatives.

* DriverMax
* DoubleDriver
* Driver Magician Lite

Free Windows XP Password Protect Folder Software

How can you password protect a folder? How to password protect a folder in windows vista? Is there any free password protect folder software for Windows XP?

Microsoft released an excellent add-on for Windows XP called Microsoft Private Folder. Microsoft Private Folder is a product released by Microsoft as part of their “Windows Genuine Advantage” program. It allowed users to protect private data in a password protected folder called ‘My Private Folder’ in the user’s account.

Unlike other third party software, Microsoft Private Folder only works on genuine Windows and the folder is not discreetly hidden. However, this is a reliable security software that does the job as promised. This is a useful tool for you to protect your private data when your friends, colleagues, kids or other people share your PC or account.

Because of security reasons and complains from enterprise users, Microsoft has decided to discontinue the software, however, it is still available in software review websites such as softpedia. Download Microsoft Private Folder.

Please note that since this is version 1.0 with no updates, rumors has it that the software is now crackable, meaning to say with a crack software available in torrent, one can peek into the content of your folder. After all, its free, no complains.
